SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — More than 200 people gathered in Spiotta Park on May 22 to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Hawaiian music and dance. The PA'I trio band — Claudia Goddard, Chris Davis, and Andy Wang — played traditional music on native instruments. They were followed by the hula dancers of Pua Aliʻi ʻIlima o Nuioka, a dance group out of New York City. In introducing the event, organizer Anna Liza Montenegro said the dancers would “spread some aloha in South Orange.”
